Trip to Japan, what a wonderful thing, isn’t it?
After a long long time of dreaming, planning, working, saving and a lot of other thing, i think i have a good chance of making a trip to Japan. A short but memorable trip (with a lot of money to spend), doesn’t it sound awesome already?
Yeah, and finally after struggles and a lot of falling down and get up, preparing the passport and other neccessary things, i will be able to go to another overseas trip (i was living in Europe a long long long time ago.) So, after bought the plane ticket from Yogyakarta to Narita, i took a note of what i will do during this short trip, just a 3 days trip in Japan.
The flight from Yogyakarta to Narita Airport in Japan took 10 hours using Garuda Indonesia with a transit through Denpasar Airport. The transit took around 2 hours and then an overnight flight directly to Japan. Why is it preferrable for overnight flight? Because i can have a rest during the night flight and it saves me a night-worth of hotel room, and when arrived there i can quickly went around without looking for inn or hotel. I arrived at Narita around 9 in the morning and then i took train to Tokyo Station, it took around 1 hours.
On the first day i will have a “date” with one of my friend, i will met her at Gundam Cafe, about 8 minutes walk from Tokyo Station, and i also rent a pocket wi-fi for my stay at Japan, why? because stay on foreign land without connection to internet almost equal to suicide, you can try that, of course i’ll take chance to talk to locals if i have the chance.
While walking to the Gundam Cafe, i keep in contact with my friend because i’ve never met her before, so it will be kind of awkward if i got the wrong person. I called her Yuki, of course it’s not her real name but i keep called her that way, she is a university student and around the same age with me. She is a kind of tomboyish girl and really cheerful, she lived with her family and they allowed me to stay on her house for one night. Well, i’m happy.
After making sure i got the right person, i went to her table and greet her, after a short re-introduction (because it’s the first time i met her for real), we spend some time at the cafe and talked about a lot of things, while i also rest a little bit after a long journey. She is really easy to talk to and the conversation flowed nicely, mainly in Japanese and a little bit english mixed here and there.
After taking some time to rest, we went to Akihabara, it took 15 minutes there by train, but we decided to take a walk while looking around, it’s more enjoyable that way i think, and she agreed. Ah, and it’s spring so the scenery is quite wonderful along the way. She acted like a proper guide and showed me a lot of good stuff and it took around 45 to 50 minutes to reach Akihabara, but because we keep talking along the way, time passed quickly. It was around 1 PM when we reached Akihabara, the land of dream they said.
I will post what we were doing in Akihabara at the next post.
